| VNWA Flight Special 06-001 |
Team Ferrari & Grand Prix Circuit 15 Sep ~ 10 Oct 2006 |
Closed |
Virtual Northwest Airlines has been contracted by Scuderia Ferrari to deliver racing vehicles, and associated equipment, (spare parts/tools), for Team Scuderia Ferrari to the Shanghai, China Grand Prix, 29 Sep thru 1 Oct 2006. This race was won last year by Fernando Alonso of Team Renault.
Flying in this oversize equipment will require the use of our McDonnell-Douglas DC-10-30 Freighter. Each freighter will be carrying two race vehicles plus equipment.
For those attempting this mission, please read the entire scenario; it might be a good idea to print it out for reference.
| Requirements for Special Flight 06-001 |
-
1. Each pilot will turn in a CFR for each leg
of the journey. Flight Number shall be your pilot number. This
is normal and is for your earned flight hours, as in any other VNWA
flight.
|
-
2. Turn in any screen shots desired for the
enjoyment of other VNWA pilots, which will later be posted to this web
page. Screen shots can be sent to: presdfo@vnwa.com. Please mark them as SP06-001, indicate your
pilot number, and include a description of the picture.
|
-
3. Each pilot will flight plan their flights, and submit their flight plans to the Director of Flight Operations (DFO), showing waypoints of each leg, (used for posting on the results page).
|
-
4. Use of real weather is mandatory.
|
| Mission Parameters |
-
1. You must request to fly this mission - (contact the Director of Flight Operations). You will be dispatched from your last location, (based on last submitted CFR), to the location of the aircraft. The location of the aircraft is chosen at random, (by the DFO), using a random number generator and will be one of 5 locations: PANC, KLAX, KORD, KFWA, or KMIA. Here you will meet your crew, (1st officer and two loadmasters). Your other outstanding CFRs will be null and void, since you will be on this special.
|
-
2. Upon reaching the location of your aircraft, (submitted CFR), the DFO will dispatch you and your crew on your mission, eventually, ending up in Torino, Italy, where you will pick up the Ferrari equipment. Leg destinations and cargo loads will also be determined randomly. (The DFO makes no promises on each leg that you can get from beginning point to end point; that is up to you and your crews flight planning).
|
-
3. Upon reaching Torino, Italy, (submitted CFR), you will be given a dispatch carrying the Ferrari charter to Shanghai, China. (The DFO makes no promises regarding the range of your aircraft, with the associated load, to make it to your destination.
|
-
4. Upon reaching Shanghai, (and a submitted CFR), the equipment will be offloaded, and you will stay to the completion of the race. You will then receive a dispatch to your next destination, Osaka Kansai International Airport (RJBB), Japan, for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, Japan. Your load will be 2% - 5% less then the previous load, depending on random selection by the DFO.
|
-
5. Your mission, and our contract with Scuderia Ferrari is over. Submit your final CFR. From here you will start normal flight dispatches.
|
-
6. The pilot with the lowest fuel burn per flight hour will get 5
free flight hours added to your total!
|
So, completion of this special will not only require good flying skills, but planning as well. This looks like a fun special flight!
Good Luck!,
Rick Kirk
