Current Scenery Projects

Currently I am working on several projects which are on-going. They are at different levels and phases of constructions and serve different purposes, although the focus is in providing as much visual realism as I can get while maintaining an economic balance with frame rates.

Been awhile since I found time to update. This does not mean I've abandon anything it just means my focus has been on improving and creating new projects. Some of you have e-mailed me with requests and most have been included however there is not enough yet to give cause for update the file. Lets just say most of the sceneries depicted on here are still pretty much current and obviously are standing up pretty well. To answer the question will I be releasing them to the popular sites, the answer is probably not for some time and I will keep this portal open for those who want to download them.

I am in year three as CEO of Virtual Northwest and I'm glad to report that things go well with the airline. My Detroit scenery remains a gift to that community and obviously is why it is somewhat geared to VNWA. I've gotten a few complaints from other Virtual Airline pilots about the logos on the gates, but the way I see it the scenery was designed for VNWA and its theirs. For others its optional and you have two or three choices; 1) switch airlines, 2) Repaint the logos or 3) keep sending me messages. Third one probably won't work but at least you might get to vent a little.

My Train Simulator project has been garnering the bulk of my attention recently and probably the main reason it appears my head has been stuck in the sand. Its extremely time consuming but the knowledge I'm gaining has been incredible and vast.

To put it basically you probably won't see much of an update on any of this stuff until the release of the next version of Flight Simulator.

The site is continually changing and occasional visits are recomended to get an idea of what is happening.

Lastly thank you all for your support, ideas, wisdom, and encouragement! Without it I probably would have given up long ago.

DETROIT METRO

Detroit Metro is the very large on-going project I have been working on over the last couple of years.

The response to my initial FS2K2 and FS9 versions went better than expected. Currently I am slowly revamping this scenery which will include newer methods and increased frame rates.

This project is geared for members of Virtual Northwest Airlines and construction is well underway at revamping the old terminals.

An earlier version is available at Flightsim.com, Avsim.com and a few other sites. Version 6 will be added soon on this site as a Beta version and will be open to anyone who wishes to try it out.

OTTAWA AREA

Work continues on this project and it seems like it will never get out of beta. Suggestions I've been getting are being incorporated almost weekly and it keeps improving.

Thanks to all who have contributed your comments and suggestions, especially from those who just stumbled onto the project. The response from the community has been nothing short of positive and goes a long way at taking away a lot of the frustration over overcoming the hurdles it has presented.

VERMONT AIRPORTS

Pretty much left this project alone lately. Only updates have been in the Rutland area as I use it for beta testing of ideas for my other projects. Maybe someday I'll get back to re-working some of these areas if interest picks up.

I've added some screenshots of this project (15-Jan-06), so that you can get an idea of where its going. The Screenshots are various locations on the Main Line running from White Creek NY to Rutland VT.

Where I stand with this project as of 15-Jan-06 is that the Section between Ogdensburg NY to Malone is 99% complete. Malone to Alburg is about 75% done and Alburg to Burlington is about 50% finished. Most of the urban areas now are represented and the focust on this section now is pretty much filling in the voids and smoother the scenery, I have not focused on Burlington as much as I plan on nibbling on this as I return to the Main Line trackage between Burlington and Rutland.

Speaking of that Trackage its probably about 40% complete and I have done very little work on the Addison Branch as of yet.

Over the Last month I have been focusing on the Main Line branch from Rutland to North Bennington. I have extended a little further south to include White Creek and picking bit by bit my way to Hoosick Falls on the old Boston and Maine Trackage.

I have also done some work on the Bellows Falls sub but there has been nothing major happening there yet. This also includes the Green Mountain Railway trackage south of Bellows Falls which ends at Grouts Corners (Miller Falls).

The Delaware and Hudson trackage to Whitehall and Ft Edward is laid and I hope to start putting some attention to this area also. I will probably concurrently work on the Rutland and Washington track south of Castleton as I go.

I have also laid down the Corkscrew Branch of the line although very little work as gone on that section so far.

To summarize the project lets just say it is a work in progress with all the main track laid and some of the yards completed. Probably be a long while yet before it does get released.

Lots of special thanks goes with this project and the names are too numerous to mention.

Here you will find the how and why I design scenery for flight simulator and an overview of the processes I use. This area will eventually contain a pictorial page of the projects I am working on. I decided to do so in order to allow for faster browsing for those looking to download.
