COMPANY PROFILE:

VNWA was founded on the 22nd day of March in the year 2001 to promote the highest quality available Virtual Airline on the World Wide Web. The management team is composed of individuals with over fifty years of Flight Simulator experience. Management is dedicated to providing the best customer service to our pilots while enhancing their enjoyment of the program.

The mission of Virtual Northwest is to provide the simulator pilot with a means to enhance their flight simulator experience, while becoming part of a major airline environment. This is achieved by advancing our pilots' careers and providing them with the most accurate, real world, information in a format that allows advancement at their own pace and comfort.

More importantly the number one focus of everyone who participates is to have fun while enhancing their Virtual Careers.

About: Virtual Northwest Airlines

Virtual Northwest Airlines is a group of aviation and flight simulator enthusiasts who share the enjoyment of conducting their simulated flights in a simulated airline structure. This strong community is headed by a team of individuals who have numerous years of experience dedicated to real world aviation as well as in the world of virtual airline management.

Unlike most virtual airlines, Virtual Northwest operates under a single tiered community with the "One Hub Philosophy". When any applicant applies, it is assumed we are all based from the same location, which is Atlanta, GA (see merger with Delta below). From this one point, our pilots branch out all over the world and, generally, flights are tailored by the Hub Manager to accommodate and enhance the individual's needs.

At Virtual Northwest we support the use of most flight simulators, and the needs of all crew members can be easily met through our dispatch system. Because all of our services are centralized through this one SOC center, the individual will receive prompt and hassle free service from management.

A virtual airline is most importantly about having fun while gaining some insight of how it's done in the real world; this is the main purpose behind Virtual Northwest. For most of us involved here within the airline, it's about giving back a little to the flightsim community for the years of enjoyment it has certainly given us.

Virtual Northwest Fleet Paint Liveries

The objective of this section is to give our pilots an understanding of the paint livery of the aircraft they are flying, and how they evolved. The premise of the fleet paint liveries is that the 1986 absorption of Republic Airlines by Northwest Airlines did not take place! Instead, the two airlines merged, thus forming Virtual Northwest Airlines! Below you will find the main set of Virtual Northwest Paint Liveries: the 1986 Merger Paint Liveries, the Millennium Paint Liveries, and the latest the merger with Delta Airlines.

The 1986 Merger Liveries are almost a direct mix of the real Northwest Airline paint scheme at that time, combined with the tail paint scheme from Republic Airlines. The prominent feature being 'Herman the Goose', which was originally the logo of North Central Airlines.

After use of the merger paint liveries for 14 years, the Board of Virtual Northwest decided in 1999 to update its liveries with the celebration of the Millennium. While maintaining the same basic color palette, and link of the tail logo, each livery is more up to date, and provides an easier recognition of the flight operations division to which the aircraft belongs.

The newest livery took place with the merger with Delta Airlines, approved by both Boards of Directors in April 2008.  The new  livery has a tail paint very similar to the Delta paint, with the wing of "Herman" , with Herman's body on the fuselage.  In size this logo is greatly enlarged and enhances the recognition of our aircraft.  The fuselage body is all white, with a modernized Northwest on the upper forward fuselage.

Also below, you will find sample paint liveries of Northwest Airlines, Republic Airlines, and the airlines that formed Republic prior to the merger.

This page will be a work in continuation, as our virtual airline evolves. In addition, you will find some variations in the paint liveries, depending on when the aircraft was painted, and the aircraft type. This is normal even among the real airlines of the world, and a source of pride of aircraft/airline enthusiasts, who are always trying to capture that photo of something different! There will also be from time to time special paint schemes. (An example is our DC-9 "Spirit of America" painted in recognition of the heroes of the events of September 11, 2001). I am sure we have fans of all of these paint designs from the clean looks and cheat-lines of the merger paint scheme to the more modern looking paint liveries of the millennium.

Any questions on these liveries, may be addressed to the Director of Flight Operations (DFO), Virtual Northwest Airline.
